Working Group Info:
The Abolitionist Working Group (AWG) formed out of the work to Derail the Jail and the Doyle Resolution campaigns to stop the jail expansion and decarcerate Dane County. This group is the home in Madison Area DSA for all abolition-related work. We believe that abolition is a key tenet of socialism as prisons and policing are some of the most direct and personal means of state-driven oppression in our current society.

MADSA Movie Night - Network (1976) (Rated R)
MADSA Movie Night - Network (1976) (Rated R)
April 24, 2025 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Social Justice Center - 1202 Williamson St, Madison
Come on out and enjoy some magical moving pictures on:
Thursday 6:30 PM - 9:00 PM at the Social Justice Center at 1202 Williamson St, Madison.
There will be delicious (microwave) popcorn!
We'll be enjoying a discussion about Network (1976) (Rated R), a movie best summarized by its signature line:
"I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!"
Also, the more politically relevant quote:
"There is no America. There is no democracy. There is only IBM, and ITT, and AT&T, and DuPont, Dow, Union Carbide, and Exxon."
Blurb:
When veteran anchorman Howard Beale is forced to retire his 25-year post because of his age, he announces to viewers that he will kill himself during his farewell broadcast. Network executives rethink their decision when his fanatical tirade results in a spike in ratings.

MADSA Protest Contingent Planning Meeting
MADSA Protest Contingent Planning Meeting
April 27, 2025 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Social Justice Center, 1202 Williamson St, Madison, WI 53703, USA
In political moments like this, when massive numbers of people are terrified, pissed off, and newly politically active-- maybe for the first time in their lives-- we often see large rallies and marches like the ones we have seen recently right here in Madison, and many of those in attendance are eager to get involved in meaningful political activity. As organized socialists, we can attend these demonstrations and offer a path for deeper political involvement.
With this goal in mind, we will meet to debrief our presence at recent demonstrations, and talk about how we can show up more effectively on May Day and beyond.
This meeting is hybrid, in person at the Social Justice Center (1202 Williamson St. in Madison) and on Zoom. RSVP for Zoom info.
