Homeless Issues Meeting w/ D8 Alder MGR Govindarajan
May 29, 2025 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
https://meet.jit.si/aldermgrhji
📅 Date: Thursday, May 29 🕖 Time: 7:00 PM 📹 Video Link: https://meet.jit.si/aldermgrhji 📞 Dial-in: +1 (512) 647-1431 🔢 PIN: 3403 5028 04#
Our next meeting will be with District 8 Alder Muralidharan (MGR) Govindarajan, the Alder of the UW-Madison campus and surrounding south-campus neighborhoods, on Thursday May 29 at 7pm. MGR has championed affordable student housing and, if I’m not mistaken, is the youngest Alder on the City Council. This is a great opportunity to hear from a progressive leader about the city’s response to the housing crisis and to provide our own feedback and policy recommendations moving forward.
This discussion will feature the following agenda items:
- MGR’s intro and housing policies (10 mins)
- The city council’s current actions to address homelessness and suggested improvements (20 mins)
- The city’s stance on public housing (30 mins)
- Logistics for redirecting funds toward public housing and the housing crisis (30 mins)
If you’re interested in helping facilitate this discussion, please reach out—we could use a note-taker and a time-keeper. Please let me know if you have any suggestions for the agenda, or if you have any questions or proposals you’d like us to raise during the discussion. I hope to see you all there!
